Love is in the Air with Rhonda

Greetings and welcome to the blog, it's Rhonda here today to share a project with you.

I've used the beautiful Birds of Paradise collection along with a piece of packaging material as my foundation to create an up-cycled home decor plaque.

Upcycled Recycle Packaging Creates Home Decor featuring ScrapBerry's Birds of Paradise Collection Designed by Rhonda Van Ginkel

How did this project begin? I received a box containing a new larger item and inside were several pieces of this oversized partition cardboard but with texture.  I loved how durable and strong it was and thought, this could really work nicely for a wall decor item.

To begin, I used a coating of plain white gesso. After the first coat I applied a bit of ScrapBerry's Stains Ink in Pink to the raised areas, then muted it down with a 2nd coat of white gesso. A bit of silver embossing powder was used on top of the wet medium, then heat set with a heating tool. The final touch was an application overall of iridescent medium.

The technique accents the gray tones and softens the Pink ScrapBerry's Stains Ink to perfectly coordinate.

As you can see, I have die cut several items to layer, but the sentiment and bird with the florals were my inspiration. I've hand cut the florals and some of the leaves as they are so pretty!

I hope I've inspired you to look at some of your everyday items creatively today.

Love Tag & Birthday Card by Denise van Deventer

Hello Everyone

It's Denise here today to share a Love Tag and a masculine Birthday card with you.

Here's the Love tag first.

I fussy cut quite a few of the elements and then also used die-cuts to create this tag.
The background was created with Distress ink and a stencil, along with a gorgeous ScrapBerry's stamp.

I
I also used some of the delicate chipboard pieces on this tag.

ScrapBerry's supply list:

ScrapBerry's Paper Collection Set Elegy (12*12-180GSM), 12 Sheets (SCB220604300b)
Holiday Romance Embilshments (SCB62000106b)
Birds of Paradise Chipboard die-cuts (SCB62000110)
Paper Flowers (SCB280409)
Elegy Clear Stamps-Precious Moments SCB4904020B

Secondly, here is the masculine Birthday Card.

Again, with this card, I fussy cut a lot of elements and then layered these up.
If one uses elements from the patterned paper, then you don't need a lot of embelishments.

Here's a closer look.

I used some hessian ribbon to add a nice layer of texture.
Since this is a masculine card, I thought it would be a nice addition.

We hope to see you back tomorrow.
Have a super day!

Heart Decoration - Forever!

Hello  ScrapBerry's and paper friends. Lydia here today sharing a fun project for the upcoming Valentine's Day. Some of us like to go all out and decorate our house or want to make something extra special for the one we love.

I got a wooden heart from the craft-store and painted it in purple and pink and dry-brushed it with white gesso. Once dry I went around the outline with the Happy Days stamp. I just inked part of the stamp and could manipulate the stamp enough to follow the heart shape. I did this on both sides. On the back you can write a sentiment or stamp something special.

On the front I started layering with papers from the Juliet collection, Polymer items that I had colored in, doilies, flowers to create a multi-dimensional heart. To finish it of I went around with some white gesso for extra accents.

I hope you enjoyed the project. Thank you so much for looking!

Look at me layout

Hello my dear crafty friends and welcome to my January Scrapberry's layout inspiration.
This layout was made (as usual) with a photo of my beloved 3 years old grand daughter Netta and this time I stayed in this tri- color combo of yellow, light green and grey.

I used Scrapberry's The art of Nature collection to scrap our family natural art aka  this lovely little girl who makes us so happy.
The background was made in a light Mixed Media style with some background stamping and some single chipboards as my add- ons.
Lots of pieces were hand cut from the patterned cardstock, mostly leaves, flowers and some birds too and glued with 3d foam glue for dimension.

Here you can see the pebble piece and my hand cut bird:

This fancy hand cut flowers cluster with more hand cut birds is the main embellishment cluster of this layout:

More close ups to the center of the page and the modern  title made of several chipboards.
You can also see that I added a flowers chipboard together with hand cut flowers and some fabric flowers all together and yes, you can combine different materials to make one  unique cluster of embellishments.

Here the stamped background is widely seen and  more hand cut flowers under the photo:

Good morning dear Visitors, welcome to the ScrapBerry's blog today :)

Now, how cute is this collection? I love everything about it! The designs, the colours, the sweetness! :)
The main images of the frame are stamps that I coloured with Distress inks and placed inside each section, adding embellishments: the metal tab, flowers and button:
